Checklists Per Property Type
Each property has a custom checklist. Staff see it on their phone and must complete required items before marking the task done.
Checklists Per Property Type
Every property is different. A studio needs a 20-minute turnover; a 5-bedroom villa needs two hours and a linen swap. Vanio lets you build checklists once per property type and reuse them everywhere.
Creating a checklist
- Go to Settings → Checklists
- Click New Checklist
- Give it a name ("Standard Turnover", "Deep Clean", "Linen Only")
- Add steps — one line per task ("Strip beds", "Run dishwasher", "Restock toilet paper x4")
- For each step, choose whether a photo is required
- Save
Assigning to properties
Attach a checklist to any property:
- Open the property
- Go to Checklists
- Click Add Checklist and pick one
- Optional: set which task types it applies to (turnover, deep clean, inspection)
- Save
You can have multiple checklists per property — one for standard turnovers, a longer one for monthly deep cleans, a short one for mid-stay refreshes.
How staff use checklists
When a cleaner accepts a task, the checklist appears in their app. They tick off each step as they go. For steps that require a photo, tapping the step opens the camera — the photo is timestamped and geo-tagged for your records.
Staff can't mark the task complete until every required step is checked. This prevents "forgot the towels" problems before they happen.
Photo requirements
Great hosts use photos as proof of work. Common required shots:
- Made beds (per bedroom)
- Clean bathrooms (toilet, shower, sink)
- Kitchen after dishes
- Living room final view
- Trash taken out
Vanio stores photos on the reservation so you can review them, share with guests if needed, or use them for damage claims.
Templates
Don't want to build from scratch? Vanio ships with ready-made templates for:
- Short-term rental turnover
- Mid-stay refresh
- Deep clean
- Pre-arrival inspection
- Post-checkout damage walk
Clone any template and edit the steps to fit your standards.
Common questions
Can staff add notes to a step? Yes — they can tap any step to add a note or flag an issue (low supplies, broken item).
Can I require specific photo counts? Yes. Set the minimum number of photos per step in the checklist editor.
Do guests ever see the checklist? No — it's internal. You control what's shared.
