Setting Your Availability
Vanio only offers you work when you're actually free. Setting your availability is the single most important thing you can do to get the right jobs at the right times.
The simple way — text
You can manage availability from any SMS:
- off — block today
- off tomorrow — block tomorrow
- off friday — block the next Friday
- off aug 10-14 — block a date range
- available monday — unblock a day
- hours 8-5 — set today's working hours

The app way
- Open the Vanio app
- Tap Availability
- Set your weekly hours (e.g. Mon-Fri 8am-5pm, Sat 9am-1pm)
- Tap any day on the calendar to add time off or change hours just for that date
Drag on the calendar to block multi-day periods (vacations, sick leave).
Weekly schedule
Most people set a baseline weekly schedule once and adjust from there. Under Weekly Hours, pick start and end times for each day. Days you leave empty mean you don't work that day.
Time off and vacations
Taking a week off? Add a Time Off block with start and end dates. You won't get any offers during that window, and when it ends you're back in rotation automatically.
Changing hours for one day
Doctor's appointment on Wednesday? Tap Wednesday and set custom hours (e.g. 1pm-5pm only). The change applies just to that date; next Wednesday reverts to your normal schedule.
Marketplace vs assigned work
Availability applies everywhere: jobs your assigned hosts offer you, and jobs you see on the marketplace. If you're off Sundays, you won't see Sunday marketplace jobs either.
Common questions
What if I get sick on a workday? Text off or tap Today → Block. Any unstarted tasks are reassigned automatically.
Can hosts still assign me outside my hours? They'll see a warning if they try, but they can override for emergencies. You'll get a notification and can decline.
Do I still get paid for blocked time? You only get paid for work you actually do. Availability just controls when offers come in.
