Task Assignment Texts by Task Type
Decide which kinds of tasks text your team when assigned. By default only cleaning tasks text on assignment — everything else stays quiet.
Task Assignment Texts by Task Type
When a task is assigned to a teammate, Vanio can text them so they know right away. But not every kind of task warrants a text — a cleaner should hear about a turnover, but you may not want a text for every internal note or documentation task. You can now control assignment texts by task type.
Where to set it
Go to Settings → Notifications.
There's a master switch — Task Assignment Messages — and, below it, a list of task types where you choose which ones actually send a text.
How it works
There are two levels:
- The master switch (on by default). Turn this off and no task-assignment texts go out, for any task type, across your whole organization. It's the single "stop all of these" control.
- Per-task-type toggles (below the master switch). When the master switch is on, only the task types you've enabled here will text the assignee. Anything you leave off is assigned silently.
By default, cleaning-related task types (cleaning, turnover, deep cleaning, laundry) text on assignment, and everything else (maintenance, inspection, purchasing, communication, documentation, and other) stays quiet. So out of the box, your cleaners get their texts and your team isn't flooded with notifications for every other kind of task.
To change it: turn types on or off to match how your team works. For example, switch on Maintenance if you want your handyman texted when a repair lands on them.
Recurring tasks only text once
For recurring tasks (like a weekly turnover), the assignee is texted when the task is first set up — not again on every single occurrence. So a cleaner doesn't get the same text 52 times a year for the same recurring job. New, genuinely separate assignments still text as normal.
