Accept and Finish Jobs by Text

Reply 1 to take a job, send photos as you go, text 'done' when you're finished. Works in any language, on any phone.

The simplest way to work

You don't need an app, a login, or a smartphone with a fancy data plan. Everything you need to accept, work on, and finish a cleaning job happens through plain text messages on the same number that sent you the job offer.

Accepting a job

When a new job is offered, you'll get a text like this:

New job: Sunset Villa, 456 Beach Rd. Checkout April 6 at 11am, next check-in 3pm. 3BR/2BA. Reply 1 to accept, 2 to decline.

To accept, reply with:

  • 1
  • yes
  • accept
  • ok

Any of those work. You'll get a confirmation right back with the address, the access code, parking notes, and the checklist.

To decline, reply with:

  • 2
  • no
  • decline

The job moves to the next available cleaner. There's no penalty for declining — sometimes you're just not free.

While you're working

You can text the same number anytime during the job. Vanio understands plain language:

  • "On my way" — your status switches to In Transit and the host can see you're heading over.
  • "I'm here" — your status switches to In Progress and the timer starts.
  • "Running 20 minutes late" — the host gets a heads-up automatically so they're not wondering.
  • "The dishwasher is broken" — an issue is created and the host is notified.
  • "What's the gate code?" — Vanio replies with the code right away.
  • "Need more towels" — flagged for the host to restock before the next guest.

You don't need to remember exact words. Type whatever feels natural — Vanio figures it out.

Sending photos

Take photos with your phone camera and send them as picture messages to the same number. They attach to your active job automatically. See Send Photos by Text for details on how many to take and what to capture.

Finishing the job

When you're done, just text:

  • done
  • finished
  • complete
  • listo (or whatever the equivalent is in your language)

You'll get a confirmation:

Task completed! Sunset Villa marked done at 1:45pm. Total time: 2h 15m. Great work.

If photos were required and you forgot some, Vanio will ask for them before closing the job.

Multiple languages

Vanio understands and replies in over 20 languages. Just text in whatever language you're comfortable with — Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Polish, Tagalog, Arabic, and many more. You don't need to set anything up. The system picks up on your language from the first message.

More than one active job

If you have two or three jobs going at once, Vanio keeps track of which is which. If something is unclear, it'll just ask:

You have 2 active jobs right now. Reply A for Sunset Villa or B for Ocean Apt 3B.

What happens if you don't reply

If you don't accept or decline a job offer within a few minutes, the job automatically moves to the next cleaner so the host isn't left hanging. You'll get a short note letting you know it was reassigned.

If you stop replying mid-job, your manager (or the host, if you're independent) gets a heads-up so they can check on you.

Common questions

Do I need a smartphone? No. Any phone that can send and receive text messages works. Picture messages need a camera, but everything else works on basic phones.

What if I make a typo? Don't worry — Vanio is forgiving with spelling and short replies.

Can I stop getting offers? Yes — text pause to stop receiving offers, or resume to start again.
