Allow Airbnb Change (SAC Override)

When you need to move a guest off one Airbnb listing onto another, Airbnb runs an availability check before it completes the change. If your calendar still shows the original reservation, that check fails and Airbnb refuses the move — even though moving the guest is exactly what you intend.

Allow Airbnb Change (SAC override) lets you give Airbnb the green light on demand, so a host-initiated change goes through.

When to use it

Use it when you are deliberately relocating a guest — for example, a maintenance issue makes the original unit unusable and you are rebooking the remaining nights on a sister listing. Without the override, Airbnb keeps rejecting the change because it still sees the first reservation.

How to turn it on

1. Open the listing you are moving the guest to and go to its Calendar.
2. Scroll below the calendar and find Allow Airbnb change (SAC override).
3. Optionally pick the From and To dates of the move (leave them empty to cover any dates).
4. Select Turn on and confirm.

Turning it off

The override turns itself off automatically after 24 hours, so a one-time move never lingers. You can also turn it off manually from the same place the moment the change has gone through.

Avoiding a double-booking

The override intentionally tells Airbnb the listing is available even while a reservation still shows on it — that is what makes the move possible. To avoid a real double-booking, cancel the original reservation after the change completes. That step is yours to make: the override is a tool for the move you have decided to make, not an automatic decision.

Managing active and past overrides

Vanio keeps a record of every override you have created for a listing — not just the ones currently active, but the full history of past overrides as well.

To review your overrides:

1. Open the listing's Calendar.
2. Scroll below the calendar and find the Allow Airbnb change (SAC override) panel.
3. Select View override history to see all past and active overrides for that listing.

Each entry shows the listing it applied to, the date range (if one was set), the reason (if you added one), when it was created, and when it expired or was turned off.

Tips & best practices

• Set a date range whenever you can. Limiting the override to the specific nights of the relocation is the safest approach — it minimises the window during which Airbnb would see the listing as available.
• Turn it off as soon as the move completes. Even though it expires automatically after 24 hours, switching it off manually the moment Airbnb confirms the change removes any remaining exposure.
• Cancel the original reservation promptly. The override handles the availability signal; keeping your calendar accurate afterward is a separate step that prevents a real double-booking.
• Add a reason when creating the override. A short note (e.g. "Maintenance — burst pipe, unit 4B") makes your audit trail much easier to review later, especially if you manage multiple properties.
• Check the history before creating a new override. If you are not sure whether a previous override is still active, review the override history for that listing before turning on a new one.

Common questions

What happens if I forget to turn the override off? It switches itself off automatically after 24 hours. You do not need to do anything — but turning it off manually the moment the move is done is still the cleanest approach.

Can I see overrides that have already expired? Yes. The override history for each listing includes both active and past overrides, so you have a complete record even after an override has expired or been turned off manually.

Does the override affect all my listings at once? No. Each override is tied to the specific listing you created it for. Turning one on for a sister property has no effect on any of your other listings.
